Sermon notes app with live sermon transcription for iPhone and iPad
Prepser is a sermon notes app for pastors on iPhone and iPad, not a paper journal. Tap record before you preach, and sermon transcription runs live on your device while you speak. Each recording becomes a note with its audio and full transcript, kept in one library you can search. From there, one sermon can become an outline, small group questions and the rest of your week's material.

How to record and transcribe a sermon
- Open Prepser on Home and check that the language chip shows the language you preach in.
- Tap Live Audio to Text. The first time, allow the microphone.
- Put your phone on the pulpit and preach. The button reads Listening…, the timer runs and the transcript fills the text field. Recording keeps going in the background.
- When you finish, tap the button again to stop. The transcript stays in the field, where you can fix a name or a reference. Tap the microphone to continue the same recording.
- To add the sermon to a prep straight away, tap Pin to Prep. Then tap the send arrow, and the recording and transcript are saved as a note in Notes.
The microphone starts the moment you tap, so you don't wait to begin. The first time you record in a language, Prepser may need to download its speech model. A short message tells you it's downloading, and live text starts in a moment while your recording is already running.
Already preached it? Import the audio
You don't have to wait for Sunday to start your library. Tap + to open New Note, and bring in a sermon you have already preached:
- Upload Audio takes an M4A, MP3 or WAV file. In Voice Memos, tap Share → Save to Files first.
- Import from Link takes a direct link to the sermon audio, like the MP3 from your church's podcast, up to 150 MB. On most podcast pages it's under Download or Share.
- Paste Text takes a transcript or manuscript you already have.
Prepser tries to transcribe imported audio on your device before it uploads, and the sermon sits in the same library as the ones you record live.
What you get in every sermon note
A sermon note keeps the recording and the words together, so you can find what you said and use it again:
- The audio, with a player you can scrub through.
- The Transcript tab, with the full text and a Share button.
- My Comments, for your own reflections, illustrations and follow-ups on that sermon.
- Search across your notes, which looks through titles and transcripts.
- AI Chat, from the "Ask anything about this note..." bar. The Free plan includes 30 AI chat messages a month.
- Export to Logos Library, which gives you a Word file to add to Logos as a Personal Book.
Every new account also starts with a sample sermon, so you can see a finished note before you record your own.
Pro transcripts with timestamps
Live transcription puts the sermon in your library as soon as you stop. Prepser Pro adds a second pass after the service. Open the Transcript tab of a recorded sermon and tap Get a Pro-level transcript. While it works, the tab says "Getting a more accurate transcript…", and you can keep using the app.
A Pro transcript is higher quality and adds a timestamp beside each passage, so you can find the moment you told a story. If more than one person speaks, for example during a testimony or a reading, the transcript labels the speakers. Your first transcript stays in place until the new one is ready.
From sermon transcript to the week's material
A transcript is where the work starts. Create a Sunday Message prep, tap Link Notes to add the sermon, then tap Generate Sermon Artifacts. The prep gets an outline, key points, Scripture, prayer points, social posts, a newsletter, small group questions and a review of your invitation, all from what you actually said. The Free plan includes 3 prep generations a month.
See real examples in the sermon outline built from a recorded sermon and the small group questions from the same kind of recording.
Your transcripts also keep working after Monday. Prepser is an AI second brain for pastors, so AI Chat answers from the sermons you have recorded, and Draft a sermon can build on your own preaching when you start next week's message.
Recording without a connection
Only recording works offline. When your phone has no connection, the app says so: "You're offline. Recording still works — everything else needs a connection." There's no offline mode for the rest of Prepser, so saving the note, AI Chat, preps and drafts all wait until you're back online.
A weak signal in the sanctuary won't stop you from capturing the sermon. Prepser writes the audio to your phone as you record, and if the app closes before you finish, that recording uploads the next time you open Prepser with a connection.
Your recordings stay yours
Your recordings and notes are never used to train AI models and never sold. Recordings live in private storage and are deleted when you delete the note or your account. Transcription and generation are processed by OpenAI and AssemblyAI on our behalf; the details are in our Privacy Policy.
A transcript is a working text. Speech recognition can mishear a name or a reference, so check a quotation against your Bible before you use it again.
Frequently asked
Is this a printed sermon notes journal?
No. Prepser is an app for iPhone and iPad, and there is no paper notebook to buy. It is built for the person preaching, not for taking notes in the pew: you record your own sermon, and the app keeps the audio, the transcript and everything you make from them in your library.
Is sermon transcription free?
Live transcription on device is part of the Free plan, and recording or importing a sermon doesn't count against your monthly allowance of 30 AI chat messages, 3 sermon drafts, 3 prep generations and 3 study notes. Pro transcripts with timestamps need Prepser Pro; see pricing for the plans.
Can I transcribe a sermon from YouTube?
Not from a YouTube link. Import from Link needs a direct link to an audio file, so a link that opens a web page won't work. If you have the audio file of your own sermon, save it to Files and use Upload Audio. Prepser then treats it like any other sermon in your library.
Which languages can it transcribe?
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Korean. Pick the language on the chip on Home before you record, and it stays locked while you preach. Your phone's language stays as it is, so you can preach in Spanish on a phone set to English. Notes built from that sermon are written in the same language.
Do I need an account to start recording?
No. Prepser creates an anonymous identifier on your device, so you can record your first sermon right away. Sign in with Apple when you want to keep your library across devices. Deleting your account from Settings removes your notes, your transcripts and your recordings.
