AI sermon draft generator that starts from your own preaching

Draft a sermon is the part of Prepser that turns a short brief into a first draft: a passage or a topic, an audience, a length and a format. Unlike a general chatbot, it can read your own library: the sermons you recorded, the pages you scanned and the preps you built. It tells you which of your notes it used, so you can see where the draft came from. You study the draft, cut it and preach your own message.

How to draft a sermon in Prepser

  1. Open AI Chat and tap Draft a sermon.
  2. Fill in Passage (for example, John 3:16–21), Topic (for example, grace when we fail), or both. One of them is enough to start.
  3. Pick an Audience: Adults, Youth, Children or Mixed.
  4. Pick a Length: 5 min, 15 min, 30 min or 45+ min.
  5. Pick a Format: Sermon, Devotional, Youth talk, Kids lesson or Bible study.
  6. Under Anything else? add what the draft should know: an illustration you want to use, a structure, what to avoid.
  7. Leave Draw on my notes and preps on, then tap Draft sermon.

The draft arrives in the chat. Keep talking to it: ask for a shorter introduction, a different illustration, a stronger application for the second point, or small group questions and prayer points for the same passage.

What a draft contains

A draft is written to be preached, not skimmed. The drafts on our sermon pages show the usual shape:

See it for a 30-minute Sunday sermon in the Advent sermon on love from John 3:16–17, and for a 15-minute message in the Christmas Eve sermon on John 1:1–14. If you only need the skeleton, start with the sermon outline template.

Why a draft from your own library is different

Prepser is an AI second brain for pastors. Every sermon you record or import is transcribed and kept in one library, next to your scanned study pages, your thoughts and your preps. When Draw on my notes and preps is on, Draft a sermon looks there first.

That changes what comes back. A general chatbot writes for anyone, because it has never heard you preach. A draft that can see your last series on John, the illustration you used in March and the points you keep returning to gives you a draft that sounds like you. It lists the notes it used, so you can open them and check.

A new library has little to draw on. Record next Sunday's sermon, or import a few you have already preached: Prepser transcribes an imported sermon in a few minutes.

Scripture and your tradition

Three quick questions in onboarding set the language you preach in, your tradition and your Bible translation before your first note, and every prompt is tuned to them. Prepser uses the 66-book Protestant canon. English drafts quote the ESV unless you pick another translation: NIV, KJV, NKJV, CSB, NASB or NLT. The draft form shows the language and translation it will write in.

Prepser writes in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Korean.

A first draft, never the final word

Drafts are produced by an AI model, and they can misquote a verse, give a wrong reference or get a historical detail wrong. Check every quotation against your Bible before it reaches the pulpit. The draft is a starting point for your study; the sermon you preach stays yours. Our Terms of Use say the same.

Your recordings and notes are never used to train AI models and never sold.

Frequently asked

Is Draft a sermon free?

Yes, up to a point. The Free plan includes 3 sermon drafts a month, along with 30 AI chat messages, 3 prep generations and 3 study notes. The allowance resets on the first day of each month. Prepser Pro has unlimited sermon drafts; see pricing for the plans.

Does it give me a complete sermon?

It gives you a complete first draft, from introduction to closing prayer, at the length you picked. Treat it as study material: read the passage, keep what serves your people, cut what doesn't and add your own illustrations. A draft you have studied and rewritten preaches better than one read as it came.

Can I draft without my notes?

Yes. Turn off Draw on my notes and preps, and the draft works from the brief alone: passage, topic, audience, length and format. The drafts on our sermon pages were made that way, so you can see what the brief by itself produces.

Can it draft a Bible study or a kids lesson?

Yes. Format offers Sermon, Devotional, Youth talk, Kids lesson and Bible study, and Audience offers Adults, Youth, Children and Mixed. A 15-minute youth talk and a 45-minute Sunday sermon on the same passage come out differently.

How is this different from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT doesn't have your sermons. Prepser keeps your recorded sermons, transcripts, scans and preps in one library, and Draft a sermon can build on them and show which notes it used. It also writes with your tradition and Bible translation set from the start.
