Prepser vs Logos AI: Sermon Assistant, drafts and price
Prepser is our product. Facts about Logos come from its own subscription page and Logos Help Center, linked in the table. Checked November 5, 2026. If something has changed, email support@prepser.com and we'll correct it.
Logos Sermon Assistant is the AI part of Sermon Builder in Logos Bible Software: it suggests outline, illustration, application and discussion question ideas while you write a sermon. Prepser is an iPhone and iPad app built around the sermon itself. It records the sermon you preach, turns it into notes for the week, keeps every sermon and note in one library you can chat with, and drafts the next sermon from your own preaching.
What Prepser does that Logos Sermon Assistant does not
- Drafts your next sermon. Prepser's Draft a sermon turns a passage, topic, audience, length and format into a first draft that can build on your own notes. Logos' help center describes Sermon Assistant as idea generation in four modes: outlines, illustrations, applications and questions. Drafting a whole sermon isn't among them.
- Works from the sermon you preached. Prepser records from the pulpit and transcribes live on the device, then builds the week's notes from what you actually said. Sermon Assistant's questions come from the text you have written in Sermon Builder; in Logos, transcripts come after you upload a recording to Logos Sermons and use transcription credits.
- Answers from your own sermons and notes. Prepser's AI Chat works across every sermon, scan, thought and prep you have saved, and shows the notes it used. Logos' help center describes Study Assistant answering from the Logos catalog or the books in your library.
- Writes prayer points, posts and a newsletter. A Sunday Message prep in Prepser includes prayer points, social posts, a newsletter and small group questions. Prayer points, posts and a newsletter aren't among Sermon Assistant's modes.
- Reviews your invitation. Prepser sums up the call to response you made, says how clearly it connected to the sermon, and suggests a stronger one for next week. Invitation review isn't listed in Logos' sermon tools.
- Starts free and costs less to keep. Prepser has a Free plan with a monthly allowance, and Prepser Pro is $8.99 a month. Sermon Assistant comes with Logos Pro at $14.99 a month or Logos Max at $19.99, after a 30-day trial.

Ideas while you write, or the whole week from one sermon
Sermon Assistant sits in a panel inside Sermon Builder. You pick a mode, give it a passage, a theme or an idea in 150 characters or less, choose the audience (and the tone, for illustrations), and insert the results you like into the sermon you are writing. Logos' own note says the results are for idea generation and should be examined and adapted.
Prepser starts where the sermon happens. Tap record before you step up, put the phone on the pulpit, and the transcript builds while you preach. After the service, link the sermon to a Sunday Message prep and tap Generate Sermon Artifacts: outline, key points, Scripture, prayer points, posts, newsletter, small group questions and the invitation review, all from what you said rather than what you planned to say. A thought in the car or a page from your study Bible goes into the same library: speak it or scan it.
Drafting the next sermon
In Prepser, AI Chat has a Draft a sermon button. Give it a passage or topic, pick the audience, length and format, and leave Draw on my notes and preps on. The draft builds on what you have already preached and studied, so it sounds like you, and it lists the notes it used. You study it, cut it and preach your own message. Complete examples are on our sermon pages.
Logos describes Sermon Assistant's outlines as starter outline ideas for a passage or theme.
One library made of your own preaching
Prepser is an AI second brain for pastors. Ask AI Chat what you preached on forgiveness last year, which illustrations you have used for grace, or where your Romans series went, and it answers from your own sermons and notes, with the sources listed so you can open them and check. Logos' Study Assistant is described as asking questions of your Logos library and the wider Logos catalog, with citations to those books.
Pricing
Prepser Pro is $8.99 a month or $74.99 a year, about $6.25 a month, with no limit on the number of sermons. The Free plan includes 30 AI chat messages, 3 sermon drafts, 3 prep generations and 3 study notes a month. On Logos' subscription page, Sermon Assistant comes with Logos Pro at $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year and Logos Max at $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, each after a 30-day free trial; Logos says subscription prices rise on December 7. Prepser Pro is a personal subscription billed by Apple. Details on our pricing page.
What Prepser doesn't do
Prepser isn't a Bible study library: it has no commentaries, lexicons or original-language tools. It keeps your own sermons and notes, works from them, and can send them to Logos as a Personal Book.
Frequently asked
Can I use Prepser together with Logos?
Yes. Open a prep in Prepser, tap Export, then Add it to Logos. Prepser creates a Word (DOCX) file you add in Logos on desktop under Tools → Utilities → Personal Books → Add book, and Logos links every Scripture reference automatically. Your notes and preps from Prepser then sit next to your Logos books.
Is Prepser part of Logos?
No. Prepser is an independent iPhone and iPad app and is not affiliated with Logos Bible Software. Logos Sermon Assistant is a feature of Sermon Builder inside Logos, available with its Pro and Max subscriptions.
Does Prepser use my sermons to train AI?
No. Your recordings and notes are never used to train AI models and never sold. Transcription and generation are processed by OpenAI and AssemblyAI on our behalf, and you can delete your account and everything in it from Settings in the app. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
