Prepser vs Sermon Shots: notes, drafts and price
Prepser is our product. Facts about Sermon Shots come from its own public pages, linked in the table. Checked October 31, 2026. If something has changed, email support@prepser.com and we'll correct it.
Sermon Shots is built around video: it turns a sermon recording into short captioned clips for social media, with summaries, blogs and discussion guides on its higher plans. Prepser is built around the pastor's study: an iPhone and iPad app that records the sermon, turns it into notes for the week, keeps every sermon and note in one library you can chat with, and drafts the next sermon from your own preaching.
What Prepser does that Sermon Shots does not
- Drafts your next sermon. Prepser's Draft a sermon turns a passage, topic, audience, length and format into a first draft that can build on your own notes. Sermon Shots' feature pages describe repurposing a sermon you have preached; drafting a new one isn't listed.
- Answers from your whole library. Prepser's AI Chat works across every sermon, scan, thought and prep you have saved, and shows the notes it used. Chat over your sermons isn't listed on Sermon Shots' pages.
- Records on your iPhone or iPad. Prepser records from the pulpit with live transcription on the device, and also takes uploaded audio, PDF, Word files and images, scanned pages and pasted text. Sermon Shots works from a YouTube link, an uploaded file or a livestream in its web app.
- Builds the outline, prayer points and invitation review. Link a sermon to a Sunday Message prep and Prepser builds an outline, key points, Scripture, prayer points and a review of your invitation. These aren't listed among Sermon Shots' outputs.
- Costs less to keep. Prepser Pro is $8.99 a month or $74.99 a year, and the Free plan has a monthly allowance. Sermon Shots' paid plans start at $63 a month, or $53 a month billed yearly; its free plan is 2 clips, once.

Last Sunday's clips or next Sunday's sermon
Sermon Shots' own pages put clips first: paste a YouTube link or connect your livestream, and it suggests short clips with animated captions, ready to post. Its Silver and Gold Suite plans add summaries, blog posts, discussion guides, devotionals and quote images.
Prepser is for the work around the sermon itself. During the week it holds your study: thoughts you speak into the phone, pages you scan, preps for Sunday, Bible study and small group. On Sunday it records the sermon. On Monday you link it to a prep and generate the outline, key points, Scripture, prayer points, posts, newsletter and small group questions in your own words. And for next week, Draft a sermon gives you a first draft from a passage or topic, built on what you have already preached, so it sounds like you. You can read complete examples on our sermon pages.
One library you can ask
Prepser is an AI second brain for pastors. Every sermon you record or import stays in your library next to your notes and preps, and AI Chat answers from all of it: what you preached on forgiveness last year, which illustrations you have used for grace, where your series on Romans went. Each answer lists the notes it used, so you can open them and check.
Pricing
Prepser Pro is $8.99 a month or $74.99 a year, about $6.25 a month. The Free plan includes 30 AI chat messages, 3 sermon drafts, 3 prep generations and 3 study notes a month, and capturing sermons and notes is free. Sermon Shots' Plus plan is $63 a month, or $53 a month billed yearly, with unlimited clips and 10 upload hours a month; Silver Suite is $67 or $57, and Gold Suite $97 or $87. Its pricing page lists a 14-day trial on paid plans and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Details on our pricing page.
What Prepser doesn't do
Prepser doesn't cut video. If captioned clips for Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts are what you need, Prepser won't make them; it writes the posts, not the videos.
Frequently asked
Can Prepser work from my livestream or YouTube video?
Prepser records in the app, or imports an audio file you already have. If your sermon lives on YouTube, export or download the audio and import it: Prepser transcribes it in a few minutes, a prep built on it gets the full set of notes, and the sermon joins your library for AI Chat and Draft a sermon.
Does Prepser translate sermons?
Prepser writes the transcript and every note in the language you preach in: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or Korean. It doesn't dub audio or video into other languages.
Does Prepser use my sermons to train AI?
No. Your recordings and notes are never used to train AI models and never sold. Transcription and generation are processed by OpenAI and AssemblyAI on our behalf, and you can delete your account and everything in it from Settings in the app. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
